Dryland Salinity

The Local Government Dryland Salinity Project was funded by River Murray Catchment Water Management Board with the objective to introduce South Australian Councils in the Murray Darling Basin to the implications of dryland salinity and  encourage their engagement in planning policy review and development and the practical management of the insidious form of salinity at a local level.

The project provides municipalities with localised planning and salinity information that will help them identify and manage salinity
hazards within their municipality. They will build capacity within councils to address salinity and will help them to put in place measures that address the financial and environmental risks posed by salinity.

In addition to working with Councils it is proposed to develop this project in close cooperation with the Murray and Mallee Region of Local Government, the River Murray Catchment Water Management Board and the Local Government Association of South Australia.
