Local Government Natural Resource Management Engagement

The Local Government NRM Engagement aims to to develop protocols and guidelines for communication, and establishing the roles and responsibilities, of Local Government in SA Murray Darling Basin in Natural Resource Management processes.

With present changes in legislation regarding natural resource management (NRM), there has become a clear need for the role of Local Government in this field to be articulated. Particularly there is a need to describe how Local Government will be engaged in future NRM processes.

The Local Government NRM Engagement aims to enhance the work already being done as part of NRM reform. In particular, it will compliment work being completed as part of the Regional Options Paper; will allow further involvement of Local Government during the establishment of regional NRM Boards in early 2005, and will influence the development / implementation of future INRM Plans and Investment Strategies.
